DEAR PASTOR, YOUR CHURCH IS LONELY.

Every day Apostolic single people are giving up the hope of creating families and ministries with a partner due to extended singleness. Loneliness is driving some of them to leave the Church altogether. We know that this is hurting our churches, and we want help. Reach out to us with questions about how we can serve your Single Saints at thesynchronyproject@gmail.com.
FAQs

No, The Synchrony Project is not affiliated with any specific Apostolic organization, and currently serves believers from many major Apostolic groups including the UPCI, ALJC, WPF, and Apostolic Assemblies as well as members of independent Apostolic congregations. The founders (Megan and Steven Keith) are lifelong members of the UPCI and currently attend the Pentecostals of Gainesville, located in Gainesville, FL (Pastor Jimmy Toney).

No, The Synchrony Project is not an app and does not function like Christian Mingle or Plenty of Fish (which match individuals based on mathematical algorithms). We provide personalized introductions to like-minded Apostolic singles following in-depth surveying and interviews. Clients meet with a matchmaker 1:1 before meeting potential dating partners, and are introduced in a safe virtual call monitored by a member of our team. We select matches based on alignment with individual clients’ values, priorities, and preferences.
-
We believe that being of like faith is not the only criteria for building a healthy partnership. We work with Singles to identify their values–the passions, callings, and goals that guide what they devote their time and energy toward–and match them with other Singles who share or support those values. As part of our consultation, we discuss ministerial calling, parenting goals and preferences, location and relocation logistics, financial health, and specific holiness standards or convictions to inform the matches we select for each individual.
-
We serve any Apostolic believer over the age of 21 who has been unmarried for more than a year. Our clients range in age from 21 to 71 and older.
-
The Synchrony Project does not currently require clients to obtain pastoral consent as a prerequisite for matching; however, clients are routinely encouraged to discuss the matching process with their Pastor, and we welcome questions from Pastors and church leadership at thesynchronyproject@gmail.com or via social media! In select cases we may reach out to Pastors (with permission from the client) to ensure that they are well-positioned to begin a new relationship; these requests are made on an ad hoc basis.
-
No, The Synchrony Project does not currently conduct criminal background checks on prospective matches. We do directly ask about past activities (criminal or otherwise) that could negatively impact a client’s relationship prospects or limit the pool of potential matches.
-
Yes, we will work with clients who have been through divorce, up to 3 prior marriages. However, we do take into consideration the particular convictions or Pastoral requirements of each client before matching them with someone who has been through a divorce. We also discuss the reasons for divorce with each client in order to ensure the emotional safety of their potential matches.

The Synchrony Project will not match clients who…
Do not attend a truth-preaching Church, as defined by a belief in the Oneness of God, baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus, the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of tongues, and holiness in lifestyle as modeled in New Testament scripture.
Disclose that they have not yet been baptized in Jesus’ name or that they have not yet been filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
Disclose that they do not regularly attend church (at least weekly) or do not support the church with tithes and offerings.
Have been divorced or widowed within the past 12 months before their consultation.
Have been divorced more than three times while attending church and adhering to an Apostolic lifestyle.
Disclose a current struggle with an addiction to substances, alcohol, or pornography.
Disclose a history of committing abuse.
Are seeking a relationship with someone of the same gender.
Carry an amount of consumer (non-mortgage) debt significantly in excess of their annual income.
Display other doctrinal, psychological, or financial indicators through their survey or consultation that indicate a lack of readiness to begin a courtship relationship.
-
The Synchrony Project will never encourage clients to relocate if they are not comfortable doing so or have expressly received guidance from their Pastor that they should not relocate. Relocation and long-distance dating is discussed as part of the initial consultation prior to any matching.
-
Transparency is extremely important to us. In each Consultation, we directly communicate the following to each client:
Neither Megan nor Steven Keith are licensed ministers, nor are they licensed marriage or family counselors.
At no point will any member of The Synchrony Project team coerce a client to move forward with a dating prospect with whom they are not comfortable. We will never falsify divine “signs” or over-spiritualize potential dating connections, nor will we attempt to engage in pseudopsychology to support our matching suggestions.
Clients are free to reject our suggestions for matches at any point in the process, and they are encouraged to communicate directly with us about any concerns they have regarding a potential match. Meeting a dating prospect via the Synchrony process does not obligate clients to engage in further contact with that prospect.
We protect private information as much as possible. Prior to a matched introduction between prospects, no sensitive personal data (last name, location, employment information, church address or Pastor’s name) will be shared with their match.
Clients are encouraged to lean on their own discernment and the counsel of their pastoral leadership before moving forward with any match from The Synchrony Project.
